UT-OSMAP Excavations in the Ostia Synagogue
Ostia, Italy (Excavator, June-July 2012) Director: L. M. White, Ph.D., University of Texas at Austin Beginning in 2001, the University of Texas at Austin established a multi-year, multi-dimensional campaign under the auspices of Soprintendenza per i Beni Archeologici di Ostia. The project is focused both on GIS survey, excavation, and conservation at the ancient synagogue of Ostia Antica and also on the city’s relationship with Rome and abroad. |
Projekti Arkeologjikë i Shkodrës
Shkodër,Albania (Lab Coordinator, May-June 2012) (Field Surveyor, May-June 2010) Director: Michael L. Galaty, Ph.D Millsaps College This project is a multi-disciplinary, diachronic regional archaeological project focused on the city of Shkodra, Albania, funded by Millsaps College, the University of Albania in Tirana, and the National Science Foundation. Responsibilities included cataloguing artifacts, basic analysis for all incoming artifacts, and teaching undergraduate students basic ceramics illustration and cataloguing procedure. |
Småland Plateau Survey Project
Visingsö,Sweden (Field Surveyor, May- June 2010) Director: Tina L. Thurston, Ph.D., SUNY University at Buffalo As a part of the ongoing project “Forests, Farmers of the Smålands: Pastoralists and the State in Iron Age, Medieval and Early Modern Sweden,” this field season was focused on the island of Visingsö, where an extensive soil chemical survey and subsequent phosphate mapping were employed. Individual research through the National Science Foundation was conducted contemporaneously. |
